Chaos Vector by Megan E. O’Keefe

“Jules fucking hated space. The low-g, or micro-g, or zero-g, or whatever the fuck you called it. The c-effect that made her stomach screw up and threaten to burst through her lips at the first sign of spin-grav. The promise that, if she stepped outside of her manufactured bubble, death, and only death, would meet her.”

-Chaos Vector by Megan E. O’Keefe

Sanda and Tomas are fleeing for their lives after letting the most dangerous smartship in the universe run free. Now, unsure of who to trust, Sanda knows only one thing for certain — to be able to save herself from becoming a pawn of greater powers, she needs to discover the secret of the coordinates hidden in her skull.

But getting to those coordinates is a problem she can’t solve alone. They exist beyond a dead gate — a Casimir gate that opened up into a dead-end system without resources worth colonizing, and was sealed off. To get through the dead gate, she needs the help of the enemy Nazca. But some Nazca are only interested in the chip in her head — and they’ll crack her open to get to it.

I’m inherently bad at writing reviews on books that are sequels because there is a fine line between writing a review and also spoiling the book entirely. And I really don’t want to spoil anything about this series.

After letting an incredibly advanced AI in the form of a spaceship Bero run free, Sanda and Tomas are on the run. Sanda is being framed for murder and hiding while she tries to clear her name, while Tomas is forced to return to the Nazca. While book one focused mainly on Sanda and her brother, Biran, book two is focused more solely on Sanda and Jules. Jules didn’t get much page time in book one, but here we start to see what is motivating her to live and act the way she does.

I honestly don’t want to say too much that could spoil the plot of the book. Both Velocity Weapon and Chaos Vector have strong plotlines with more twists and turns than you could possibly see coming. I enjoyed this book immensely and am looking forward to reading the third installment in the series. I think Megan E. O’Keefe writes amazing, thrilling books, and I’m excited to read more by her.

As I said in my review of book one, what I love about her books is how big they feel. The world building is incredible and top notch. The characters continue to grow and expand, and I’m definitely in love with this world so much.

Such a short review, but the book and series is definitely worth checking out!
